The sour taste of victory?

Sour belts, sour candy, whatever you want to call them. I used to be in love with them, ate them whenever I could. However, today I discovered the dark side of this delicious candy. As said on my Bucket List I was to eat two bags of sour belts at once. It turned out that I had underestimated the pain that one can feel when one eats too much of his favourite food, in this case the sour belts. To add some spice to this horrific challenge, my boyfriend and I changed the challenge into a game.

In total we had two bags containing twenty sour belts each. The purpose of the game was to eat twenty sour belts per person in the shortest amount of time possible. To make it even more fun, we decided we weren’t allowed to use our arms. The first three were still okay, nevertheless the pain started to integrate into every single spot in my mouth. My tongue felt rough and my eyes started to produce tears. Together with the sweat that my body was releasing I focussed on the next four sour belts. Whether I had to go through hell and back, I would win this game. Especially from a boy so complacent, he started bragging about winning before we even went to the store to buy the sour belts. I had never in my life experienced this much pain in my mouth and with the next four sour belts I cried for salvation, which horribly didn’t came. My hands started to tremble. I wasn’t far from victory. The end was near!

At least I thought so… I tried to grab another sour belt; however it was stuck together with another one! This only made me think I could eat it twice as fast. Oh, how wrong I was. At first I was still paralysed by the pain from the past eleven, but a few seconds later the smirk of victory left my face and exchanged itself with the expression of terrific horribleness. My lips were maimed by all the sour and the inside of my mouth was one big burning hole. With difficulty the words “I surrender” came out of my damaged mouth and I ran to the sink to drink some water while looking at a face filled with pride. We shook hands as we are suppose to do, however I don’t think this stupid test made our relation any stronger.

BTW, I totally would’ve won if it wasn’t for the tears in Stijn’s eyes if he had lost… ;)
